Our Medical projects are designed for those with some experience in clinics and hospitals, those with 2 years studying in the medical career path, or for those that have retired and want to give their expertise in a developing nation. Peru provides socialized healthcare for those less fortunate; however, the shortage in supplies, medical professionals, and facilities is apparent. With less than 5% of GDP dedicated to serving those needing socialized medical care, outside organizations such as Yes2Peru and others, provide much needed volunteer help and donated resources.
In this project, you will be hands-on to your experience and comfort level. You will rotate stations at a government funded clinic, non-profit run clinic, or assist a municipality in various campaigns throughout Andean communities. Our volunteers assist in generalized medicine and care. While on rotation, you will help in areas such as triage, pharmacy, records, or assisting the doctor or registered nurse with personal care. Peru in general suffers from a shortage of specialized care in rural areas so experience is a must. To learn more, contact one of our project managers and we’d be glad to share more detail.
